During the research process, I found Goudy’s way of working very unique. All of Goudy's types were drawn freehand, without the use of compass, straightedge or French curve. After drawing the letter and tracing it onto thick paper, Goudy would cut out the letter and transfer it into a matrix. The craftiness in Goudy’s work inspired me, so instead of designing the whole poster with computer, I made a cube physically. On the surface of it, there are pictures of Goudy carving out his design, Goudy’s residence, and William Morris’ work that influenced Goudy. There are also some cut-outs on the cube, which not only relates to Goudy’s working process but also showcases the letters inside the cube.
